Please note some measurements as to heights off roof and protrusions into headroom have changed + or- 1/4" since Jan 2014 for the change made by Atwood Mobile, the new owners of Fantastic Vent.

MEASUREMENTS and Dimensions

hplpbases.jpg (19250 bytes)  HIGH & LOW PROFILE BASES  (Low profile based vents are hard to get now since high profile bases are standard)  We have been retrofitting some customers new vents to low profile bases for clearance issues.

A high profile base means less of the vent protrudes into the roof/ceiling thickness (cross sectional thickness), more protrudes off the roof.   Low profile base means more vent protrudes into the roof/ceiling thickness (cross sectional thickness), less protrudes off the roof.  If your roof/ceiling dimension is less than 13/16, Fantastic offers a 9/16" filler in off-white. If you are putting a vent into a van which has only a sheet metal roof, you would have to make your own filler (picture frame)  or leave it without an interior garnish.   If your roof/finished ceiling thickness is more than 1 3/8" you would have a choice of either high or low profile bases however another consideration about your selection would be the knob protrusion into your inside headroom.  An "Aliner" short lift knob will help a little with the manual open models.  A short knob is used already with automatic dome open models.

6000rbtaside3101.jpg (34762 bytes) LOW PROFILE  Side view of a 6000RBTA or other automatic open/close models  with a low profile base ( Another reason for wanting to know the roof to finished ceiling dimension is to provide you with a vent that will minimize the projection on the knobs into the head room, the 6000RBTA and all the automatic open/close with the auto-trol control have similar dimensions).  Using a high profile base will decrease the knob penetration by approx. 1/2 of an inch.

lpbasestdliftknob.jpg (34882 bytes) LOW PROFILE Side view of 5000rbt or 4000r or other manual open domes with a low profile base. The dome lift knob is approx 2 1/2" from roof surface, so if your roof surface to finished ceiling thickness is 2" the lift knob will be approx. 1/2" below the ceiling.  A short shafted lift knob used in "Aliner" trailers can be substituted for an additional 1/4" less protrusion.

highprofileautoknob.jpg (22926 bytes) HIGH PROFILE  Side view of a 6000RBTA or other automatic open/close models  with a high profile base.  The dome lift knob is approx. 2 3/4" from the roof surface. So if you have a 2" roof surface to finished ceiling measurement, the lift knob will be approx. 3/4" below the ceiling.

hpbasestdliftknob.jpg (17993 bytes) HIGH PROFILE  Side view of a 5000rbt or 4000r or other manual open domes and a High Profile Base. If you have a 2" roof surface to finished ceiling thickness, the standard lift knob will be approx. flush with the ceiling.  A short shafted lift knob used in "Aliner" trailers can be substituted for an additional 1/4" less protrusion.
